Public Health Measures during Congregation

For Graduates and Guests Attending the Ceremony

Graduates and guests attending any ceremony that will take place at the Main Hall of the Shaw Auditorium should comply with the following arrangements:

  1. Except for exempted persons, all visitors entering the main hall of the Shaw Auditorium are required to comply with the ‘Vaccine Pass’ arrangements and other requirements under Cap.599F.
  2. A temperature check is arranged at entrances. The audience with fever symptoms will be denied entry and should seek immediate medical advice.
  3. Masks must be worn at all times in the venue.
  4. Special seating arrangements and capacity control have been implemented (currently, no more than 85% of the seating capacity of the ceremony venue will be occupied and consecutive seats in the same row will be limited to 8). Please follow the seating instruction of the staff as appropriate.
  5. Graduates and guests should be seated according to the assigned seat as indicated on your ticket, and should not swap seats on your own.
  6. Hand sanitizers are provided in the venue.
  7. No food or drink is allowed during the event.
  8. The event organizer will conduct cleaning and disinfection in the venue between sessions.
  9. A social distance of 1.5 meters should be maintained where possible.
  10. Graduates and faculty members are advised NOT to shake hands on stage
  11. Although testing is a requirement for graduates and guests attending this one-off event, it is highly recommended that visitors take a COVID rapid test before attending the event.

For Graduates and Guests Visiting the Campus for Photo-taking

  1. Masks must be worn at all times. Graduates and guests are advised NOT to take off their masks when taking photos.
  2. A social distance of 1.5 meters should be maintained where possible.
  3. No gatherings on campus with more than four people are permitted except for work, essential or otherwise approved activities, and family groups living in the same accommodation.
  4. Hand sanitizers are provided around the campus. Visitors are reminded to maintain hand hygiene.
  5. Although testing is a requirement for graduates and guests attending this one-off event, it is highly recommended that visitors take a COVID rapid test before attending the event.

Vaccine Pass

  1. The Vaccine Pass is applicable to HKUST venues. Every visitor must scan the LeaveHomeSafe QR code and show their booster dose vaccination record as a minimum requirement to enter the venue (including Campus Gate and Shaw Auditorium).
  2. Those with medical exemptions are required to provide the COVID-19 vaccination medical exemption certificate.
  3. Under the “Vaccine Pass” arrangement, visitors can use the latest version of the “LeaveHomeSafe” mobile app to store their vaccination record, that is, the electronic vaccination QR code, or the QR code of the COVID-19 Vaccination Medical Exemption Certificate issued by a doctor.

Other General Measures across the Campus

  • GERMAGIC antimicrobial coating is applied in frequently accessed areas, including school buses
  • Building ventilation system will continue to be operated in “anti-epidemic” mode to supply maximum amount of fresh air to indoor areas
  • LeaveHomeSafe QR codes are posted at entrances of venues, including commercial outlets on campus, members and visitors are encouraged to use the mobile app to record their visits.
  • Floor marks are added to catering and retail outlets as well as public and shuttle bus stations to remind people about keeping social distance.
